Those quotes are: One day as the youngest and I were driving past the old Odessa Community Sale Barn, someone was using a tractor and loader to clean the barn. I said "See that Farmall M? When I was a boy, that was a BIG tractor." My young daughter looked carefully and then asked "What happened to it?" My family went through a period of thinking I might be colorblind. I di... My fellow citizens: I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition. Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tide... Read More
The 13th Amendment of the US Constitution says that involuntary servitude is abolished. The courts and the legislature of Missouri seem to be unaware of that fact in their dealings with victims of paternity fraud. They refuse to let men who have proven via DNA testing that they are not the biological father off the hook for child support. The courts seem to be in denial, since the Thirteenth Amendment does not allow involuntary servitude. It does not say it's acceptable when an arbitrary time li... Read More
It seems that the mantra heard during the recent national election was "Change is coming". Now that the election is over we have been assured that change is here. What exactly does that mean? What type of change is being proposed? What are the desired end results? GK Chesterton wrote in "Orthodoxy" that there are two types of change. One type of change is that which is necessary when we drift away from the agreed upon ideal. This chang... Read More
I just wanted the Veterans and their families to know that the Grapevine is proud of them and their sacrifices for our great country. I know by looking at this site that we have many of them who are still giving to their country. My hat is off to all of you and especially families that lost love ones. If you know a veteran thank him for his sacrifice that made this country strong. Happy Veterans Day to all! If anyone wants to see another great site they can go to www.c322association.org and see... Victim of Identity Theft: Cajunhiker Online Name Used Without Permission By The REAL Cajunhiker I just did a Google search for my name, Cajunhiker, and imagine my surprise when I see there are other people out there online with my name! I had the name Cajunhiker first, no doubt about it. How does one place a claim on their online identity, specifically, their online name? I first used it to logon to a hotmail email account since, well..., I don't rem... Read More
I received a free ad in the mail today, from an out-of-state bank. Because of an unusual and unfortunate accident, the ad fell into my shredder before I could reflect on the great deal it described, and before I noted the name of the bank. The ad was for a wonderfully different checking account. The selling points ranged from a couple of completely worthless looking claims, up through slightly helpful, all the way up to amazingly exciting. One of the worthless claims was that the account would... The May 20, 2008 Warrensburg Daily Star Journal has a headline on page 12 that says "Cattleman gets five-year sentence". I didn't read the story, but the headline is shocking and outrageous. I already knew about the financial penalty for raising cattle, but to put people in jail for it seems terribly wrong, on at least 4 counts. Putting a cattleman in jail is wrong because, aside from the cattleman, nobody gets hurt when he raises cattle. It is secondly wrong because he might corrupt others... Read More
